In another story, a character aspires to be a famous nurse but instead finds work opportunities in a corn field and later joins a musical band, eventually becoming a trumpet player hired for performances despite comic mishaps involving a wrench and interference with the band's automatic music machine.
Little Boy Blue isn’t lazy—he’s a hardworking trumpet player who’s been trying to make a name for himself, from herding sheep to playing on a broken merry-go-round, all while dreaming of fame. When a young boy questions his nap under the haystack, Little Boy Blue steps out of the story to explain his real ambitions and the exhausting journey behind his rest.
Wacky-Wolf, a young man with a big appetite, is surprised to find his friend Fatso digging in a garden, claiming he's growing vegetables to save money. When Fatso insists that vegetables come only from cans, Wacky-Wolf tries to teach him the truth—only to discover weeks later that his own garden failed completely, leaving him blue in the face and out the same amount of money.
