Gilt Frame #1

Dark Horse and Flux House launch this three-part mystery series from Margie Kindt and Matt Kindt with a cover that doubles as a provocation: a figure slumped in an ornate chair, head bowed, what appears to be a knife or dart in their back, and a spreading pool of crimson at their feet — all rendered in moody purples and blues and presented within an elaborate gilt picture frame that becomes the cover's literal border. Skulls lurk faintly in the shadowy background, and ghostly brushstroke shapes drift overhead, lending the whole image the unsettled atmosphere of a crime scene disguised as fine art. If the first issue's packaging is any indication, Gilt Frame intends to blur the line between gallery and crime scene in thoroughly compelling fashion.
