Marie leaves school to help support her family. She hates her job at a department store but sees no way out, until she and Frank meet, fall in love, and marry. However, Marie pushes Frank to get ahead so she can enjoy luxuries, but instead he gets fired, starts to drink, then leaves her. Marie goes back to work at the store, but one day Frank, sober and employed again, returns and they get back together.
