“The Man I'll Marry”

In "The Man I'll Marry," high school student Ginny grapples with the pressures of dating while watching her friend Marion enjoy a steady relationship. As Ginny follows her mother’s advice to explore other connections before settling down, she eventually finds love with Vic—only to realize, years later, that her mother’s wisdom held more truth than she once believed. Illustrated by Mike Sekowsky with inks by Mort Leav, and featuring cover inks by Vince Colletta, this 1954 issue captures a quiet, heartfelt moment in a young woman’s life.

High school student Ginny wishes she had a steady boyfriend like Marion does, so she wouldn’t have to worry about getting dates. Her mother advises her against it, saying teen couples won’t know it’s true love unless they date other people. After graduation Ginny gets a job, and eventually meets and marries Vic. They move back to her hometown and Marion says Andy dumped her and she can’t get a date now. Ginny realises her mother was right.
