Golden Comics Digest #13
In "High Hat Hero," Jerry’s dream of sailing the open sea hits a snag—literally—when rat blocks block his path. With help from a determined little duck named Little Quacker, he’s offered a ride across the pilings, but the journey leads to something far less idyllic than the adventure they’d imagined. Written by Vic Lockman and brought to life with expressive art by Phil De Lara (pencils and inks) and color by the Western Publishing Production Shop, this 1970 Golden Comics Digest tale captures a quirky, offbeat moment in a classic Western-era comic. The cover, also by De Lara, perfectly captures the story’s playful, slightly surreal tone.

Jerry gets the urge to go out on the sea but he can't board the boat because of the rat blocks. He sees a duck (Little Quacker) that is trying to get out to sea but can't get past the pilings. Little Quacker says that Jerry can ride on his back out to sea if he will help direct him past the pilings, but once they get out on the sea it isn't what they were hoping for.
