Alan Scott von Erde II bemerkt plötzlich, dass seine Ring-Energie auch Holz beeinflussen kann. Er reist nach Erde I zu Hal Jordan um ihn die Neuigkeit zu übermitteln. Dort angekommen ist der Effekt aufgehoben. Durch Befragung des Ringes finden sie heraus, dass ein Mitglied der unsterbilchen Oaner vor Billionen von Jahren durch seine Forschung über den Ursprung allen Seins, das Böse über die Welt gebracht hatte. Er wurde verbannt und sie entwickelten sich zu den Wächtern des Universums und Erschaffern der Grünen Leuchten. Krona allerdings ist nun frei und bedroht erneut das Universum.
