Green Hornet Comics #12
In "The Killer in Black," dead Revolutionary War hero "Bunk" Hill returns to Earth seeking recognition for his long-forgotten bravery, only to be denied enlistment by both the army and navy—after all, he's dead. When German forces attack Brooklyn, Bunk uses his ghostly powers to defend the city, but his heroic act goes uncredited in the afterlife, where even his fellow spirits doubt his tale. Art by Sam Glanzman and a cover by Arturo Cazeneuve bring this 1943 wartime ghost story to life.

Dead Revolutionary War soldier "Bunk" Hill wants to be recognized for his heroism, but because he never mentioned it before, history (and his fellow dead heroes) have forgotten him. He returns to Earth to prove his courage, but neither the army nor navy will allow a dead man to enlist. But when the Germans attack Brooklyn, Bunk routs them using his ghostly powers. However, back in the afterlife, no one believes him!
