Green Lantern #2
This second volume of DC's 2022 Green Lantern series continues the cosmic saga as Hal Jordan and the other Lanterns face new threats in the wake of the United Planets' rise. Collecting issues from the ongoing run, the story delves into the political and personal challenges of wielding the emerald light across the universe.
In "The Standard Model," Jessica makes her first major move in the Green Lantern Corps' ongoing struggle, taking down three Yellow Lanterns and bringing them to New Korugar. Impressed by her resolve, Sinestro offers her a chance to join the Sinestro Corps—and with a captured yellow ring, she returns to Earth, only to intercept a starship in distress. Her attempt to save it puts her directly at odds with Hal Jordan, setting the stage for a clash of ideals and power. Written by Ryan Cady and illustrated by Sami Basri and Tom Derenick, with colors by Hi-Fi and letters by Rob Leigh, the cover by Bernard Chang captures the tension of that pivotal moment.
In "The Standard Model," a furious Teen Lantern takes matters into her own hands, launching a reckless solo assault on New Korugar to confront the Sinestro Corps. Meanwhile, on Sergilon, the survivors grapple with the aftermath of the Qinoori's arrival and must decide how to respond to the escalating threat.
In "Entanglement," Green Lantern Jo Mullein takes center stage as she leads a high-stakes rescue on New Korugar, facing off against the Sinestro Corps and the enigmatic Sinestro himself while Simon works to retrieve Keli. Meanwhile, a desperate call from Kilowog and Hannu pulls John and other former Lanterns into a parallel mission, testing their resolve and unity in the face of growing darkness.
In "Deus Novus Viarum," John Stewart joins a high-stakes rescue mission that fractures through time when Lonar transports him to a forgotten moment in Oan history—where a young Ganthet leads a group of Guardians in a desperate stand against the forces of Apokolips and New Genesis. Meanwhile, on the present-day battlefield, Jo and Simon struggle to shield Keli from the Thanagarians’ invasive scrutiny—only to find themselves defending the Thanagarians when Keli’s true nature awakens.
In "Exposure Therapy," Jessica faces a moral test when she uses a captured Yellow Lantern ring to rescue a starship in distress—only to clash with Hal Jordan, whose ideals stand in stark contrast to her new path. The story explores the weight of choice and the cost of power, as Jessica navigates the consequences of wielding a ring that challenges everything she thought she knew.
In "Lucis Lator," John Stewart returns from a perilous journey to the past with his Green Lantern powers restored, rallying a team to rescue Hannu and Kilowog from a dire threat. Meanwhile, on Oa, Jo and Councillor Fel dig into the unsettling behavior of two Guardians whose actions may have triggered the collapse of the Corps, while Simon works to steady Iolande and other former Lanterns in the aftermath.
In "Praxis," John confronts Esak in a desperate bid to stop him from draining the life force of innocents to power the Lightbringer, igniting a tense clash that pulls in Lonar. Meanwhile, on Oa, Jo presses Yridian for answers about her ties to the Guardians and the fateful events that destroyed the Central Power Battery.
In "Apotheosis," John confronts the Godstorm’s overwhelming power, plunging him into visions of possible futures that test his resolve. While Koyos, the Guardian, falls to the Blight and turns on Oa, Jo Mullein must rally a force of former Lanterns to stand against him—though even the returning Guardians may not be enough to stop the tide.
In "Viridis Eques," Jo Mullein finds herself at the center of a cosmic clash as the Justice League, the United Order, and the Guardians unite to stop the rogue Guardian Koyos from unraveling reality. With the tide turning against them, the fate of the universe rests on John Stewart, who now wields the raw power of the Godstorm in a desperate stand.
In "Nova Lux," John, now known as the Emerald Knight, stands at the edge of a transformed legacy. After wielding the Godstorm to defeat Koyos the mad Guardian, he confronts a vision of the Source itself—ushering in a rebirth of the Green Lantern Corps as he renews power rings for 600 Lanterns, rekindling hope across the universe.
