Groo: Gods Against Groo #4
In "Gods Against Groo Chapter 4," Groo’s brief reign as a deity comes crashing down when the people of Iberza finally see him for who he really is—just a bumbling, luckless warrior. As the island’s factions turn on each other, hidden agendas surface: Captain Ahax, Taranto, and The Sage plot a getaway with stolen treasure, only to face unexpected dangers. Meanwhile, the oppressed populace rises up, freeing The Minstrel and his daughter while leaving others behind. With his godhood gone, Groo must navigate the chaos of a world that no longer believes in him—thanks to the unmistakable, chaotic brilliance of Sergio Aragonés, who writes, draws, inks, and brings the whole absurd, action-packed mess to life, with Carrie Strachan’s colors and Stan Sakai’s lettering rounding out the wild ride. The cover, also by Aragonés, captures the moment with his signature over-the-top flair.

The various factions of the island conflict put a stop to Groo’s endless fraying with them by playing dead. Captain Ahax, Taranto, and The Sage plan to escape the island with a shipload of gold and gems, only to find more than one unpleasant surprise awaiting them. The population of Iberza revolt against their wicked queen, forcing her to free The Minstrel and his daughter (though, oddly none of the other prisoners). Groo loses his godly state as the people see him for his true uncouth, bumbling self and stop believing in him.
