The first tale follows Captain Burton Mossman, a lawman pursuing the Mexican bandit Augustinie Chacon, who has murdered twenty-nine men and terrorized the Border region with his vicious raids. Mossman enlists the help of escaped train robber Burt Alvord to locate Chacon's hideout, promising him reward money, and successfully captures the bandit at a railroad, resulting in Chacon's execution in Solomonville, Arizona. The second story features outlaws planning to rob a heavily guarded fifty-five-thousand-dollar gold shipment from the Mesa mines, with characters including the masked Marvel and Blackjack Grady plotting their heist while evading the sheriff.
When hooded nightriders descend on Mesa County to ignite a bloody range war between sheep and cattlemen, Gunsmoke and his Mexican companion Pedro find themselves caught in the crossfire—and they quickly suspect the conflict is being orchestrated for sinister purposes. As mysterious attacks claim lives and the tension threatens to explode into open warfare, Gunsmoke sets out to expose the truth behind the violence before the entire territory is consumed by flames and vengeance.
When the Comanche Kid and Hank Buel discover a flatboat ravaged by river pirates, they rescue a traumatized young survivor and bring her to Natchez—only to have her identify one of her family's killers in town. The Kid's investigation uncovers a shocking conspiracy: the attack isn't random piracy, but an organized operation with the town's most respected merchant at its heart. Now the Comanche Kid must outrun a ruthless gang, expose the conspiracy, and organize a reckoning before the pirates strike again.
When the Blevan boys gun down Sheriff Loder in cold blood, the people of Navajo County turn to an unlikely choice to restore order—a rifle-carrying stranger named Commodore Owens. Facing four ruthless outlaws who've grown comfortable as the county's unchallenged tyrants, the new sheriff rides into Holbrook with nothing but a rifle and the oath he's sworn to uphold, leading to a desperate gunfight that will decide who truly runs Arizona.
When a masked vigilante turns to robbery and murder across the Arizona territory, honest folks begin to wonder if the Masked Marvel [Slim Crane] was ever on the side of law and order at all—but one returning traveler knows there's more to the story than the wanted posters suggest. As the real Marvel races to stop an impostor from destroying his name and claiming his crimes, the truth behind the mask threatens to catch up with him.
