When Gunsmoke and his partner Pedro ride into Paradise Valley looking for peace, they find instead a town torn apart by greed—a ruthless schemer named Faro Holliday has convinced desperate farmers that destroying the dam controlling the valley's irrigation will free them from Pete Wyman's rule, when in truth it would turn their fertile land back to desert. Gunsmoke decides to expose Holliday's lies and stand up for the valley's future, setting the stage for a confrontation that threatens to explode into violence before sundown.
