In a whimsical tale from Ha Ha Comics #94, a young, curious bear named Teepee Tim gets a porcupine quill stuck in his hand and asks his grandmother, Grandma Numonya, how porcupines got their quills. She tells him a long-ago story of a bullying bear who used to sit on smaller animals for comfort—until the porcupine, after being mistreated, was given quills by Mother Nature to defend himself.
