Hap tries to keep his notoriously clumsy uncle, Ben Blowhard, away from the Hazard household during a crucial business meeting, enlisting his help in a series of increasingly absurd distractions. Hap Hazard enters Babs Barret’s photo in a contest for a free evening at the Club Palm, only to discover days later that both Babs and another girl, Peggy, have won. Now trapped in a chaotic double date, Hap frantically tries to keep the two girls from meeting while juggling meals, cake, and his own escalating panic.

Lou, a young man with a flair for dramatic excuses, tries to cancel a date with Zippermouth by fabricating an endless list of chores and responsibilities, only to be caught in a web of increasingly absurd lies when Zippermouth calls to confront him. The story unfolds with a series of escalating, comically exaggerated excuses that push the limits of believability, all while maintaining a lighthearted, humorous tone.

Hap Hazard’s latest misadventure begins when he accidentally blows up Babs’s radio, leading to a cascade of mishaps after her father, Mr. Barrett, returns home. Trying to make amends, Hap offers to buy his father cigarettes, only to discover the quarter he uses was actually a rare coin from Mr. Barrett’s collection—now lost after being given as change to a police officer.
