Happy Comics #3
In "A Gob's Gob," Charley Cat swaps naval duty for shore leave, only to find himself tangled in a whirlwind of mishaps—from dodging kidnappers to accidentally taking flight in an aircraft factory—before crash-landing back on his ship, much the worse for wear. Written and drawn by Ben Levin, this 1944 adventure captures the chaos and charm of wartime downtime with a sprightly, slapstick energy. The cover by Jim Tyer perfectly captures the comic's lighthearted, action-packed spirit.

Charley Cat, serving on a navy war ship, gets shore leave and looks forward to relaxing. Instead, he has a string of adventures, including a run-in with kidnappers and a mix-up in an aircraft factory that takes him into the air. He crash lands on his ship (landing on an Admiral). Bruised and bandaged in the last panel, he's happy to be back on board scrubbing the decks.
