A postal worker named Fred Bentson has a problem: when he falls asleep, he wakes up in another universe. The universe of Superman's Metropolis, in fact. Alva asks Hardware to investigate and Curt ends up tagging along with Fred on one of his inter-dimensional trips. While in Metropolis, Hardware has to deal with some aspiring scavengers/rapists. After cleaning house, Hardware looks in a mirror and sees Steel looking at him from the other side. The mirror shatters, Fred awakes, and Hardware is back home. Alva is overjoyed; another universe to exploit.
