“Things That Go Bump in the Night!”

In "Things That Go Bump in the Night!", Hawkgirl faces a haunting mystery as Kendra awakens from a terrifying nightmare only to find herself back in her bed—just as a new threat erupts in the city. Walter Simonson’s gripping tale, illustrated with bold precision by Howard Chaykin and colored by Michelle Madsen, unfolds across a tense night where a mysterious armored assailant targets youths, and the aftermath leaves more questions than answers. The cover, also by Howard Chaykin, captures the eerie intensity of a story where danger lingers just beyond the edge of sight.

About to face her unknown assailant in the museum basement, Kendra wakes up at home in bed, apparently a victim of another nightmare. Roderic uses his influence to try to have the Stonechat default on its loan, allowing him to acquire it. An armored assailant attack three youths. Nearby, Kendra attacks, managing to bring the attacker down, but two of his young victims have died. Grubs and St. Roch police officer Lt. Doucette arrive, remove the attacker's hood and watch as he disintegrates. Some blocks away Kendra's dream assailant realizes his minion has failed and he must try again.
