“The Unbelievable Gwenpool”

In "The Unbelievable Gwenpool," written by Christopher Hastings and illustrated by Chifuyu Sasaki and Gurihiru, the chaotic heroine takes on a high-stakes mercenary job to stop alien arms dealers—only to find herself in a far more personal battle. After a daring skydrop and a shocking ambush, Gwenpool faces off against M.O.D.O.K., who demands her loyalty after she kills one of his operatives. With her hacker friend in danger and her usual wit failing her, Gwenpool must decide how far she’ll go to survive. The cover by Joyce Chin captures the moment’s tension with sharp, dynamic flair.

Gwenpool goes to get her suit fixed at Big Ronnie’s and takes a mercenary mission to stop alien arms dealers. She arrives by tourist helicopter and jumps out in midair. Finding the ship full of dead aliens, she comes up behind and takes out the other mercenary who defeated all the aliens. At home relaxing in the tub with her hacker pal in the next room, an outer wall explodes. M.O.D.O.K. appears and demands Gwenpool work for him, as the mercenary she killed was his. She laughs in his face, then M.O.D.O.K. incinerates the hacker, and she sobbingly agrees to be a henchman.
