Based on the visible pages, "Heroic Tales" #9 is an anthology featuring at least two stories: "Don Dixon" by Bob Moore and Carl Pfeufer, in which Don Dixon and a companion experience a catastrophic crash and find themselves stranded, realizing a young woman named Wanda is missing and feared dead; and "Gordon Fife," in which the titular character encounters Mr. Sterling and becomes entangled in a kidnapping plot involving Sterling's son, with ransom demands and a mysterious villain named Von Stoth pulling strings behind the scenes. The issue also includes period advertising, including a game contest promotion.
