Kay dates Stan Dryden, a much older man who her friend warns is not the marrying kind. The two date against her parents’ wishes and face her father's wrath when they arrive home. Stan temporarily calms the father down but soon keeps Kate out too late and is forbidden from seeing her. That night Kay sneaks out of the house as the couple race across state lines where Kay expects to be married. Stan tells her he has no such intentions and her screams draw the attention of a state trooper. Kay lies to avoid Stan being arrested and in gratitude Stan proposes but Kay has learned her lesson.
