Donna Blake was hopelessly in love with Bill Carson, but she was a plumber's daughter and Bill was the son of a wealthy land developer. Their opportunity to date came when Bill was selected to write for the local radio station and Donna was chosen to read them on-air. After telling his father he wanted to marry Donna, Jeb insisted that she prove she was not out for the family fortune. One day she overheard Jeb plotting to use land earmarked for a new hospital for his own development and reported this on the radio. Thinking her chances with Bill had ended, she found his love survived.
