Chief Mountain Cat and his men massacre a wagon caravan. In retaliation Mountain Cat is killed by two cavalry soldiers, but the dead chief leaves behind a 12-year-old son, Red Wing. Red Wing decides to infiltrate the cavalry by enlisting, and then take revenge on his father's death when he reaches manhood.
