George Nareksi and Johnny Ball, after being goaded into a drag race by the smug Chino Munn, fix up their family Chrysler with help from George’s dad, Joe, turning it into a competitive hot rod. Though Chino mocks them and tries to provoke another race, George decides against revenge, choosing instead to join a sanctioned hot-rod club for fair competition.

Bubba Larson, a young man who traded in his powerful Plymouth for a modest Valiant, proves his compact car can hold its own when he clocks impressive speeds at Fallon Field. Alongside his friends Flash Robbins and Billy Rand, who each upgrade their own compact cars, the Camshaft Cavaliers embrace compact racing after being inspired by Bubba’s performance. As the trio prepares for an inter-club championship, their nimble machines face off in a high-stakes race that tests speed, handling, and balance.

Jason Roberts III inherits his grandfather’s rundown estate, including a barn full of old cars, and initially fears he’ll have to scrap them for money.
