Clint Curtis and Scot Jackson face off in a high-stakes drag race, their rivalry intensifying as they battle for dominance in a best-of-three showdown. With each round pushing them to their limits, the tension mounts—especially when a red light disqualifies Scot, giving Clint a chance to win, only for his car to suffer a catastrophic engine failure just short of the finish line.

Bud Abo, once a dominant force on the drag strip, is grounded after a reckless run that lands him in trouble with his father and the local police. After being banned from driving for a month, he teams up with his old friend Len Bolton to build a new hot rod, coaching him through the basics while helping him prepare for a rematch with rival Jim Durando.

Rick Roberts, fresh off a triumphant race win, is kidnapped by shadowy figures and brought to a remote island where he faces a deadly rematch with Baron Manfred von Trawitz—the racing rival he once defeated in 1961. The Baron, seeking revenge for his crash, forces Rick to race him again in identical cars, with a ten-second head start and his left wrist handcuffed to the steering wheel.
