With artwork by Howie Post and a striking cover by Warren Kremer, this 1968 Harvey classic blends whimsy and wonder in a tale that’s as surprising as it is strange.
In "The Mysterious Fish Tale [Part One]," young Hot Stuff reels in more than just a catch when he stumbles upon a hidden domed city beneath the lake, only to be snared by the enigmatic Doctor Neptune, a fish-man with an air of authority over his underwater realm.
In "The Heat's On [Part Two]," Hot Stuff is sent by Doctor Neptune to warm his daughter’s bath, but the little devil’s overzealous efforts send the temperature soaring—too high, in fact. The resulting scream from Neptune’s daughter is so intense it shatters the glass dome shielding the city, and in the chaos, Hot Stuff makes his escape.
In "Hot Doggie [Part One]," Hot Stuff takes in a mischievous devil dog named Hot Doggie, only to face Aunt Clinker’s wrath when the pup devours her lunch. Forced to abandon him in the forest, Hot Stuff’s mind begins to change when Hot Doggie saves him from a dragon snake and an evil ogre—proving that even a troublemaking pup might just be a hero in disguise.
In "A Hero's Reward," young Hot Stuff, inspired by a TV broadcast about heroes getting rewarded, sets out to find someone in need of saving—just so he can earn his due. With a mix of determination and a dash of kid-sized ambition, he searches the neighborhood, hoping to prove he’s a hero in his own right.
