“Huckleberry Hound Chuckleberry Tales”

In "Huckleberry Hound Chuckleberry Tales," Packy the elephant stumbles upon a construction crane and, misunderstanding the word, believes it's a bird. Confused by the machine's name, he tries to help a baby bird return to its nest by mimicking the crane's lifting motion—only to call himself a "crane" in the process, leaving the mother bird utterly bewildered. With Pete Alvarado handling both the interior art and cover pencils and inks, this 1963 Western Publishing gem captures a delightfully silly moment of mistaken identity, all in a 12-cent comic that's pure early cartoon charm.

Packy sees a "metal monster" lifting heavy loads, and hears the workers call it a "crane". This confuses Packy, who'd always believed a "crane" was a bird. Packy returns a baby bird to its nest by emulating the lifting motion of a construction crane with his trunk, and further puzzles the mother bird when the helpful elephant refers to himself as a "crane".
