“Hunter's Moon [Chapter One]”

"Hunter's Moon [Chapter One]" kicks off with a tense, grounded family trip gone wrong: Linc Greer, forced to take his son Wendell along on a hunting trip with his girlfriend Veronica, finds himself at odds with his ex-wife Paula. After a tense stop at a local diner and a mysterious encounter with Ranger Hardy at their remote cabin, the hunt turns deadly when Linc is struck unconscious—waking to find his son vanished and the woods full of unsettling silence. Dalibor Talajić’s stark, atmospheric art and Ed Dukeshire’s sharp lettering heighten the isolation, while Tomislav Tikulin’s cover captures the story’s creeping dread.

Linc Greer wants to go hunting with his girlfriend Veronica but his ex-wife Paula makes him take his son Wendell instead. When they stop at a diner near their cabin Wendell gets into trouble with the local police when he nearly knocks over someone when he storms out of the diner after a fight with his dad. When they go up to their cabin, Ranger Hardy visits them and Linc and Wendell go hunting the next day. Linc shoots the deer with a bow but misses. After Linc shoots it with a gun because Wendell doesn't shoot someone hits him in the head. He wakes up to find himself alone and Wendell gone.
