Rescued by the scout Hawk-Eye and two Mohican Indians, Chingachgook and his son Uncas, the party is led to hidden caves on a rocky island at Glen's Falls, where they are besieged by the warrior Magua. After a fierce battle involving tomahawks and gunfire that kills one of the savages, the survivors manage to escape, with Uncas leaping before Cora and driving back the attackers with a hunting knife. A ranger named Killer Black and his gang also feature in the issue, with the rider attempting to trap Black in Blind Canyon through strategic use of brush fires and ammunition explosions meant to fool the outlaw into thinking an army is pursuing him.
Warbonnet, a lone warrior known to all tribes, arrives at the Dakota camp to plead for peace, only to find the tribe preparing for war after being ordered to leave their land by U.S. soldiers. When the soldiers accuse the Dakotas of attacks, Warbonnet insists they are innocent and sets out to uncover the real culprits—tracking down a hidden band of Pawnee warriors responsible for the raids.
A lone pioneer woman, Mrs. Stevens, must defend her cabin with her children and dwindling ammunition when a band of Apache warriors launches a sudden attack. As the desperate standoff continues and their supplies run low, a group of passing cowboys arrives just in time to drive off the attackers.
In a tale of frontier cunning and courage, a young Crow warrior named Pine and his companion set out to hunt buffalo and track a Sioux war party that has invaded their territory. As they follow the enemy’s trail through treacherous terrain, they face danger, near-fatal mishaps, and a daring nighttime raid on a large Sioux village—where a new Winchester repeater gun proves to be a game-changer in a clash that tests both skill and nerve.
