The issue was written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton (co-plotters, with Michelinie scripting), with pencil breakdowns by John Romita Jr. and finished art and inks by Bob Layton, under editor Jim Salicrup and editor-in-chief Jim Shooter. The Michelinie–Layton–Romita Jr. collaboration had begun in 1978 and was already mid-stride through one of the most praised runs in Bronze Age Marvel history. The cover is by Bob Layton. The story was released with a cover date of December 1980 (on sale September 23, 1980) and was published in both Direct and Newsstand editions, as well as a British edition with a 15p cover price.
