Jack of Fables #14

From Vertigo's irreverent spin-off series, this October 2007 issue of Jack of Fables delivers a cover by Brian Bolland that perfectly captures the series' tone: a blond Jack, clutching a briefcase and demanding "Who the #\*@%! are you?", clings to an enormous beanstalk while a dark-haired figure in black hangs below him, acoustic guitar in hand — all with a storybook European village shrinking far beneath their feet. It's a gloriously absurd fairy-tale collision, and with Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges writing alongside artists Tony Akins and Russ Braun, the third chapter of "The Bad Prince" promises the same sharp wit and mythic mischief the series does so well.
