The escapees from Golden Boughs, it turns out, have opened a roadside diner—far from the chaos they fled.
In "The Impaled Wild Man!" from Jack of Fables #9, a group of tourists pushes the already unstable Impaled Wild Man past his breaking point, unleashing chaos in the woods. Meanwhile, Sam takes on a temporary babysitting role with the Page Sisters, while Raven, guided by a spirit vision, urges the diner staff to flee for Fabletown. As the tension mounts, Jack Frost sets out to confront the Dragon, drawn by a foreboding sense that the end is near.
In the snowy wilds of Manitoba, Jack Horner stumbles upon a mysterious blue ox—miniaturized and glowing with strange magic—just as Jack Frost learns of a new quest that could change everything. Meanwhile, the Page sisters traverse the frozen tundra, and Raven leads the group ever closer to Fabletown, all drawn toward the hidden cave where Jack Dragon and Sam await.
