From Fabcaro and published by Glénat, Jean-Louis announces itself with a cover full of dry, understated humor: a tired, bespectacled everyman crouches beneath a large chalkboard, brush in hand and paint pot at his feet, having just finished lettering the title in dripping black paint. There's something immediately endearing about this small, rumpled figure dwarfed by his own name — or someone else's — rendered with Fabcaro's clean, expressive line work. A 2018 release that promises the kind of quietly absurdist comedy Fabcaro does so well.
