In "Case of the Rioting Trees!" from Jeep Comics #1 (1944), former Battle of France hero Jeep—now tinkering with his Army jeep—adds a rocket attachment to turn it into a flying machine, joining his costumed partner Peep on a spin over town. When they spot trees suddenly coming to life, robbing banks and pickpocketing citizens, they track the chaos to a mysterious scientist in a plane, wielding a chlorophyll atomic animator. The duo races to stop the madness before the animated trees cause more damage.
