In "The Youthful Yodler and the Zig-Zag Zither," young Tommy Squawk sets sail in 1492 on a whimsical quest to prove the world is triangular, only to cross paths with Christopher Columbus heading the opposite way. With a zany spirit and a trusty zither, Tommy journeys through Europe, aiding in a bizarre showdown against the shadowy Hitlerat and his misfit allies. The story, illustrated with playful energy by Rudolf Johnson (credited as R. Johnson), blends historical satire and surreal adventure in a 1943 comic that remains delightfully odd.

When the yodler instead offers them yards of rainy weather, a series of surreal events unfolds as the young idea grows, the bushelman vanishes, and the yodler sets off on a whimsical journey to find a mysterious zig-zag zither, encountering strange figures, odd weather, and a world where logic is as flexible as a musical instrument.
