When a gale threatens the construction, Wayne and the workers battle dangerous conditions, but a mysterious blue-skinned saboteur appears to wreck the project. In a separate story, a man confesses to holding his twin brother prisoner on a remote ranch for ten years after killing him in a fight over their inheritance, revealing that his brother's ghost has since been haunting the property.
John Wayne takes charge of a desperate bridge-building project at San Mollee, where experienced workers have mysteriously plunged to their deaths and the local crew has abandoned the site in fear. When an assassination attempt convinces him the job matters more than he thought, Wayne rallies a new gang to push the construction forward—but nature, sabotage, and the sheer peril of high-steel work all conspire against them.
A wealthy man's obsession turns deadly when he can't accept rejection. After a violent confrontation at his hunting lodge, Edmund Caxton forces a plane carrying John Wayne and a woman named Marcia into a crash landing at sea, where his twisted mind sees betrayal in their desperate struggle to survive the cold waters. Stranded aboard a whaling ship with a madman who sees the world through a lens of delusion, Wayne must contend with both Caxton's murderous grudge and the very forces of nature closing in around them.
When John Wayne and his companion Bonanza stumble upon the mysteriously abandoned Busted Circle Ranch, they discover far more than a meal and a place to rest—a man claiming to be a ghost emerges from the shadows, a prisoner of his own twin brother's greed for a decade. As the escaped captive threatens to silence them and intercept his brother's daughter, Wayne and Bonanza must outwit their captor before the girl arrives with no knowledge of the danger awaiting her. With the ranch house itself becoming a deadly trap, the two must fight for their lives and hers.
