Jonah Hex #3
In "Le dernier rôle," the rhythms of the tribe’s fish-running season take a tense turn when Arak’s sudden act of violence—smashing his adoptive father’s net—threatens to bring disgrace. But as the dust settles, the truth emerges: Arak’s strike saved his father’s life, felling a venomous snake hidden in the net, while a turtle’s presence offers quiet hope. This moment, steeped in tradition and peril, underscores the tribe’s ongoing battle against the Serpent-Lord. Written by Roy Thomas and Dann Thomas, with art by Gérald Forton, and a cover by Luis Dominguez, this 1986 issue captures a quiet yet potent chapter in Arak’s journey.

It is the season of fish-running, where the boys of the tribe chase spawning fish into their elders' nets. It's going well until Arak suddenly hurls a rock at his adoptive father's net, smashing it. It appears he's brought shame on his family until they all realize that Arak was actually saving the man's life by killing a venomous snake in the net. Also in the net is a turtle, a good omen. All in all, it's another example of the tribe's eternal struggle with the Serpent-Lord.
