Jungle Comics #31
In "The Gallows Bird," Maurice Whitman's stark, expressive art brings to life the brutal lessons of power as Emir Shekar forces his stepson to witness the slaughter of slaves. When Kaänga liberates the captives and takes Prince Kajumba with him, the two forge a new path, building a stockade for the freed and standing firm against Shekar’s war elephants. The cover by Maurice Whitman captures the tension of this clash between tyranny and defiance.
