Gramps and Junior spar over the value of television, with Gramps dismissing it as idle entertainment while Junior defends it with examples from cowboy movies, comedians, and sports. When Gramps challenges him to name one thing TV does well, Junior is stumped—until Gramps turns the tables by showing him how to make a pillow football and reenacts a dramatic (and absurd) game-day play with theatrical flair.

Chuck and Junior team up to help Pop impress Mom by secretly modifying her old vacuum cleaner into a makeshift electric power mower, leading to a chaotic but well-intentioned prank that spirals when the jury-rigged machine unexpectedly comes to life. With Mom firmly against spending on lawn equipment, the boys must navigate her outrage—and the sudden, surprising call from the furniture store—before the whole plan collapses.

Chuck brings his aardvark, Aardie, to the pets picnic, causing shock and dismay when the animal’s unusual appearance frightens the other kids. When ants overrun the picnic area, Aardie unexpectedly saves the day by eating them—revealing his true nature as an anteater—earning him first prize in the pet contest.
