"It May Seem Funny to You," illustrated by Bill Brown, follows a teenage boy's date with a girl named Deena that goes awry when he accidentally pulls out his wallet along with his handkerchief to help her with cinder in her eye, resulting in him losing his wallet at an ice cream parlor and being forced to wash dishes to pay the bill—an embarrassment that causes Deena to stop speaking to him for weeks. Another story titled "Junior" depicts a schoolboy who finds a harmless garter snake and agrees to watch it for a classmate named Goofy, but complications arise when he must store the specimen in a box during his gym period and later at school, creating various awkward situations throughout his day.
When Junior's cousin Roger—a college man with a car and fraternity credentials—announces he's driving into town for the weekend, both Deena and Gwenny suddenly decide they'd rather be available than keep their other plans. The two girls scheme to leave it up to Roger himself to choose who sits beside him in the front seat, setting off a Saturday night scramble that has Junior and Goofy Gordon watching from the sidelines. It's a comedy of teenage scheming where nobody quite gets what they're after, and the arrival of one smooth-talking college boy sends the whole dating dynamic into delightful chaos.
Junior needs to finish his term theme by Monday, and when he cancels his movie date with Deena to buckle down, he's in for a comedy of errors—his homework gets accidentally wrapped up with old newspapers, forcing him into a frantic race against the library's closing time. What happens next tests whether Junior can smooth things over with Deena and salvage his evening plans.
When Junior and Deena need a cake for their guests but have no money, they decide to bake one themselves—only to discover that converting a professional baker's recipe from pounds to cups is trickier than Junior bargained for. As the two tackle measurements and mishaps in the kitchen, their good intentions face a delicious (and explosive) test of whether their math skills can survive contact with an oven.
Goofy brings a harmless garter snake in a box to school as a biology specimen, but when he asks Gwenny to watch it during gym class, the box ends up in study hall—where curious classmate Deena won't stop pestering her about what's inside. When the teacher sends Gwenny out of the room and Deena finally opens the box, chaos erupts, landing both girls in the principal's office with Mr. Bradford, who's about to discover just what's caused all this commotion.
