Justice League of America #175
In "But Can an Android Dream?", Red Tornado steps down from the Justice League, returning to New York to reconnect with Traya and Kathy Sutton. As Doctor Destiny escapes and unleashes his Materioptikon to torment others with terrifying illusions, Red Tornado confronts the hallucinations head-on—only to see Destiny vanish before the League can arrive. Written by Gerry Conway and brought to life by Dick Dillin’s pencils, Frank McLaughlin’s inks, and Jerry Serpe’s colors, this 1980 issue explores identity and purpose with quiet intensity. The cover by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano captures the moment’s tension in sharp, striking detail.
