“The Darkness Engine, Chapter Two of Fatherland”

In "The Darkness Engine, Chapter Two of Fatherland," Mr. Terrific recounts the fall of the Justice Society of America to the Fourth Reich in a future where hope is dimmed by the weapon known as the Darkness Engine—powered by the enigmatic Obsidian and capable of nullifying the heroes' abilities. With the JSA broken and scattered, Mr. Terrific now joins a clandestine group of imprisoned allies, each bearing familiar faces, as they plot a fragile resistance in the shadows. Written by Bill Willingham and brought to life by Jesús Merino’s evocative art, with inks by Jesse Delperdang, colors by Allen Passalaqua, and lettering by Rob Leigh, this issue deepens the dystopian stakes of a world where even the mightiest heroes can be undone. The cover, also by Jesús Merino, captures the weight of that defeat in a single, haunting image.
