This issue contains the story "Quicksand!" in which Abel Jarvis spent twenty years searching for treasure in the Louisiana swamps but was ultimately killed for what he found. Three men—Fred Lamson, Danny Skiff, and a third companion—encounter two other treasure hunters, Phoney Jean and Lafitte, who are also seeking gold in the swamp; the men plan to keep any treasure they find for themselves. When a young man named Jerry Wilson becomes entangled with these criminals after befriending one of them, he is forced into their scheme, but the gang members turn on each other, with some being shot and others fleeing into the wilderness, ultimately leaving Wilson to face the consequences alone.
