In the N'Tonga village, Kaänga encounters the King of the River and his runner, who warns that Kaänga cannot match the River King's strength and advises him to flee. Kaänga and his mate Ann face a strange parade emerging from the jungle temple, and Ann is captured and taken away. Later, Kaänga meets with explorers Lance Billings and his mate, who explain they are searching for Ann after hearing of her capture. The group discovers Ann has been taken to a bamboo prison, and when strange folk emerge from the jungle to attack, Kaänga must fight to rescue her and battle the mysterious forces threatening their land.
