Kathy Crane decides to spice up her school assignment on "My Family" by inventing a wildly glamorous version of her ordinary household, complete with a safari-hunting father, a movie-star mother, and a genius brother. As her fictional family takes over her life—her dad preparing for Borneo, her mom planning a Hollywood comeback, and even her boyfriend Hank abandoning her—the truth begins to unravel when two orphanage investigators show up at her door.

Kathy plans a perfect dinner for her father’s important business guest, enlisting Mickey to help while she cooks, but chaos ensues when the roast burns and the salad is ruined. As the guest arrives, Kathy improvises with an endless stream of salads, delighting him with her clever deception—especially when he reveals he’s a vegetarian.

Hank confides in Senor Lopez that Kathy thinks he’s not romantic, prompting the Senor to suggest a serenade. Hank panics—he can’t play guitar, but Senor Lopez insists any instrument will do, leading to a comedic mishap when Hank accidentally hits Mickey with a glove, causing tears.

Chester, desperate to win Ginger back from the smarmy Sylvester, tricks her by posing as a mystical fortune teller at a charity bazaar—complete with a borrowed swami costume. As the fake Swami, he spins a dramatic reading that flatters Ginger while mocking Sylvester, but chaos erupts when the real swami returns and a misunderstanding leads to a wild chase.

Kathy and Hank hit the slopes for a day of skiing, with Kathy eager to prove her skills—though her antics quickly turn the run into a series of slapstick mishaps. As Hank tries to keep up, Kathy’s exaggerated stunts and near-misses lead to a series of chaotic falls, leaving both of them bruised but laughing. The day ends with a shared moment of realization, though whether they’ll stick to safer trails remains to be seen.
