Ken Maynard encounters natural hazards in the Badlands while pursuing outlaws through geothermal geysers and caves. He discovers that an outlaw gang has established a base in Badman City, where they operate a bank, blacksmith, and gunsmith to support their criminal operations. Ken infiltrates the gang by posing as a blacksmith named Tom Wayne, gathering intelligence on their gold and silver loot while Tom Wayne holds off the sheriff's posse outside. After a gunfight with the outlaws in which his gun runs empty, Ken pursues the remaining gang members through the badlands terrain as they attempt to escape, with a final confrontation blocked by the steam geyser's full blast.

The Narrow Pass
4 pp · Humor, Western-Frontier

In the humorous western tale "The Narrow Pass," Jeeter and his surprisingly articulate horse, Ya-Ta-Ta, find themselves blocked by a boastful stranger who refuses to move, claiming he’s waiting for a chocolate cake. When the man mocks the horse’s intelligence, Ya-Ta-Ta reveals a series of absurdly impossible claims—including a barn a mile long and half an inch wide—before Jeeter delivers a surprisingly effective punch that settles the matter.

Leaves Sour Taste!
1 pp · Humor, Western-Frontier

Sassy Sam tricks Marney into answering a silly riddle, teasing him for not knowing the difference between a lemon and a head of cabbage, leaving Marney flustered and the joke on him. The humor comes from the lighthearted banter and Marney’s confusion, with Sassy Sam clearly enjoying the moment.
