The Montana Kid rides into the hills where Indians wait to take revenge against their sworn enemy, Colonel Mike O'Doud, but the Kid gallops headlong into the Sioux camp to free a hostage and discovers his mission involves far more danger than anticipated. When bullets ignite the ammunition stores, causing massive explosions and fires that threaten to destroy the entire encampment, the Kid must work quickly to prevent disaster. The issue also contains a prose story titled "Only the Obvious," in which a detective is assigned to deliver a confidential message from the President of the United States to a newly appointed territorial governor, navigating Indian trouble and suspicious parties along the stagecoach route.
