Klaus #[nn]
In this standout issue of Klaus, Grant Morrison and Dan Mora weave a haunting origin tale as Klaus recalls his childhood rescue from the ice, his bond with Dagmar, and the betrayal that left him for dead in the forest—only to be saved by the wolf Lilli. Now a man on the run, Klaus reunites with Dagmar, offering her a carved toy bird and a promise to free Grimsvig, while she teaches her son to play, unaware of the trap being set. Dan Mora’s striking art and moody colors bring this icy, mythic world to life, with every panel charged with quiet dread and emotional weight.

Flashbacks tell how Klaus was rescued as an infant from the ice; how he befriended Dagmar when they were children; how as a man he was framed for killing Baron Alrik, left for dead in the forest, and rescued by the wolf Lilli. Klaus meets Dagmar, convinces her that he is innocent of her father's death, gives her a carved toy bird, and promises to free Grimsvig. Dagmar teaches her son to play, but Magnus uses the boy to lay a trap for Klaus.
