Jonid the gnome illusionist impersonates Lord Gilead and has the boys arrested. For killing a blind beggar, "Gilead" orders Knuckles' leg hacked off. Zayre manages to rescue the real Gilead, but Jonid escapes again in the ensuing chaos. Knuckles gets a peg leg.
