Down in the dumps after finding himself in a strange land and stuck in a manticore's body, Alex wanders the streets with his only friend, the fairy Molli, who tries in vain to cheer him up. The pair meet Rakshasa and her feral brother. When Archean sends a dwarf patrol to bring in Kore, his comrades try to convince him to leave the city and lie low. Once Kore discovers that Archean has captured Mandy, however, Kore decides to take the fight to the wizard and rescue his girlfriend.
