This issue contains two main stories. The lead story features Lash LaRue using his signature bullwhip to defeat outlaws in a confrontation involving a horse race challenge and a plot to steal gold from prospectors. The secondary story, "Goro Becomes Chief Great," follows a mysterious stranger named Goro Kurankini who arrives at the Bar-H Ranch and becomes involved with the cowboys there; during his stay, he learns the location of stolen gold and pledges to help an Indian tribe in need, while also tangling with a prospector named Hawkins over the treasure's whereabouts.
