Le Maître de Peinture #3
The third volume of Glénat's Le Maître de Peinture carries the subtitle "Premier Concert," and its cover — rendered with the painterly warmth you'd expect from a series about art — presents a young woman cradling a small wolf cub against her blue dress, a canvas stretcher and a cluster of paintbrushes crossing behind her shoulder. The quiet intimacy of the image, with the girl's steady gaze meeting yours directly, sets a mood somewhere between tender and quietly determined. Richaud, Makyo, and Faure bring a real illustrative sophistication to this 2005 entry that makes it as pleasing to look at as it is intriguing to read.
